Working in concrete, photography and sand gel for texture, Amber Fey references the rounded silhouettes of stacked river rocks in her “Pebble” series. “I was inspired by the smooth and neutral colors of river rock and the process of pebbles colliding as they are transported downstream,” explains the artist. Organic forms become abstract as the work plays with contrast in a black-and-white palette. Reproduced here to emulate the artist’s original techniques. Presented in a matte black wood frame that can be hung vertically or horizontally.
Amber Fey is a Montreal-based artist who uses photography and graphic design to “find elegance in the ordinary.” She describes her work as having “many stylistic quirks, depicted with simple shapes and compositions.”
